Lessons take place in a quiet place at the student’s home. Families may wish for lessons to take place outside of the home, for example at local libraries, museums or art galleries. This can be arranged directly with your child’s teacher.

We don’t offer trial lessons, but you are welcome to schedule a phone or Zoom call with the teacher we have offered to discuss your child’s requirements in more detail. We get in touch with parents after the first lesson for feedback and to ensure our teacher is the perfect match for your child.

Online tutoring is an effective and flexible solution for students of all ages. Wherever you are located – Sussex or Saudi Arabia – online tuition gives you access to an extremely qualified teacher. For children who experience anxiety about teachers visiting the house in person, online lessons can be a more comfortable experience and more conducive for learning. The majority of our online lessons take place over Zoom. Teachers provide a recurring meeting link for lessons and send resources in advance. Teachers make lessons interactive and engaging through screen sharing, online educational games, and white board technology. We use shared Google documents for essay based subjects so that teachers can provide feedback on written work in real time. Every online teacher we recommend is personally known to us, is a qualified teacher with a minimum of two years of classroom experience, holds an enhanced DBS certificate, and has passed The Golden Circle’s rigorous interview process. Our online teachers have extensive experience delivering well-structured, engaging lessons online.

Lessons are usually one-to-one. This enables teachers to tailor lessons to each child’s education requirements, academic goals, learning style and interests. If parents would like to organise small group lessons (2-6 students) for their child and friends, we are able to accommodate this. Teachers are experienced in differentiating lessons to support children with a range of abilities. There is a higher hourly rate for group tuition. Please get in touch for more information.

Yes, Golden Circle teachers will bring resources to all the sessions. We are guided by our students. If they have not sat an initial assessment, we ask for copies of their latest school exams and ask them which topics they would like to review in lessons.

Yes, we introduce full and part time teachers to families living outside of the UK. Our residential services range from after school tuition (2-3 hours/ day), to innovative micro-schooling, and full time home schooling. We place particular importance on introducing a teacher who fulfils your child’s pastoral and academic needs, while aligning with your family’s values and complementing your lifestyle.

Yes, if requested by a parent, our teachers can organise excursions to relevant exhibitions, art galleries, and museums. We do our best to ensure excursions complement a child’s learning in the classroom. For example, taking a student who is learning about classification to the London Wetland Centre. We’ve found this to be a great way of bringing learning to life!

The first session with a teacher should be considered a trial (chargeable) lesson to see whether your child is happy. We get in touch for feedback after every first lesson. On the rare occasion that our teacher is not the perfect fit for your child after the first lesson, we immediately introduce you to a well-qualified alternative and arrange a comprehensive handover.

Our teachers are located in London, Manchester, Bristol, Oxford and Cambridge. We work with families outside of these areas through online tutoring and residential placements.

We have an initial conversation with parents, over the phone or Zoom, to develop a comprehensive understanding of their child’s requirements. We discuss their child’s academic needs (including exam boards, current and target grades, and special educational needs), their interests and learning style. We then write a detailed role description and contact our most well-qualified teacher for this position.

We handpick each teacher to work with individual students based on their teaching experience and approach, availability, and location. We send parents detailed information on the academic and teaching background of the best-suited teacher for your child, as well as their availability. Parents can ask questions or ask to see other teacher profiles. Once a parent has approved the teacher, we pass contact details on to the teacher to introduce themselves and schedule the student’s first session. We stay in touch with our families and regularly seek feedback to make sure their child is enjoying lessons and making good progress.

Many of our teachers hold pastoral roles in top UK schools. Our team includes SENCos, specialist SEN teachers, Inclusion Coordinators, and Heads of Year. We match SEN students with teachers who have extensive experience in this field. Our student community includes children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, autism, and ADHD.

For children aged 3 – 16, the hourly rate for tuition is £75/hour. At A Level, the hourly tuition fee is £85 – £125, depending on the subject, complexity of the role, and teacher’s experience and qualifications. Tutor time for university level tuition is charged at £125 – £175/ hour.

The registration fee is a one-off membership fee to join The Golden Circle. It provides access to our teachers, our advice and direction for your family, and exclusive offers on educational resources.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If your child cannot attend a lesson, please give their Golden Circle teacher more than 24 hours notice to avoid being charged.

Invoices are sent to parents at the start of each month for lessons taken in the previous month. There are three payment options: automatic deferred payment (with a card saved on your account), direct payment through your account, or bank transfer. For parents who chose the deferred payment option, payment is automatically taken five days after the invoice is sent. The five-day notice period provides enough time for parents to review the invoice and any queries to be resolved.
